Hi Y'all
My name is Dennis Sigala
I live in the Panhandle of Florida, Miramar Beach, neighboring Destin
I play blues guitar and blues harp, and my fav Pedal Steel
Y'all probably wondering why a Pedal steel player is posting here
I was in Biloxi at Vince Gil concert last week, Awesome player, Singer
his steel player, non other than Paul Franklin.
I found out that Paul and Vince use an tube amp called the Little Walter 50 watt
twin amps in one cabinet, The sounds is amazing!
I had built the Lone Wolf 6L6SE amp and have a friend studio guitar player
use it, he was blown away by the clean sound> Hmm, I tried on my steel and loved the
sound, So now Id like to build a Steel Amp that, If anyone has any feedback on
circuit mod for guitar let me know! Yes I know the design was meant for distortion
for Blues Harp, but I love thus amp for Guitar too!

Hi Dennis,
Welcome to the forum! The 6L6SE circuit could be easily modified for guitar if required, although it probably gives a suitable "old-school" tone for pedal steel as is; the circuit is designed for the high output of harp mics which can be anything upto 10x the output voltage of a guitar pickup. I'm no expert on pedal steel, but I suspect the pickups have a higher output, which is why it's suited.
If I was building one as a guitar amp I'd probably reduce the coupling caps from .1uF to .047 or .022uF, and look at adding in a cathode bypass cap on the first preamp stage if I wanted more gain.
What on earth was I thinking when I played THAT?
